17 July 2009,Santec, a leading manufacturer of fiber-optic components, sub-systems and optical test instruments announces the release of a new polarization extinction ratio (PER) meter, PEM-330. The instrument builds on the success of Santec’s PEM-320 model with an expanded wavelength range to cover the full wavelength band used in telecom applications from 1260nm to 1630nm.
The PEM-330 provides a simultaneous display of polarization extinction ratio (PER), optical power and polarization angle. These are the three critical parameters required when aligning polarization maintaining fiber to optical devices. The instrument is thus suitable for component manufacture as well as evaluation. This device has very high accuracy and a wide dynamic range. It also has communication ports to allow fully automatic fiber alignment and measurement.
FEATURES
Wide wavelength range: 1260-1630nm
Simultaneous display of extinction ratio, optical power and polarization angle 40dB dynamic range for PER measurement GPIB,
RS-232C communication and analogue data output ports
APPLICATIONS
Alignment of polarization axis of fiber for optical devices
Connectorized PMF patch cord evaluation
PMF pigtailed laser diode evaluation
